My review of the Supernatural episode “The End” is up at pinkraygun.com. Enjoy!
An excerpt:
“There’s this terrific scene where the “croats” (infected humans) espy Dean and send him running. My first thought, was oh, good, Dean loves zombies and these are kind of like zombies, so this ought to be fun for him. But second, that there were too many of them, and so Dean takes off running. Running Dean is a very delicious flavor of Dean, you realize. If you don’t, then you need to see this scene. Dean Running, good lord. Run, Dean, run!”

My review of the Supernatural Episode “Free to Be You and Me” is now up at pinkraygun.com. Enjoy!
An excerpt:
“It’s nice to see Sam like this because there’s lots and lots of Sam to see, thanks to the camera guy and the lighting guy working in tandem. Sam must have the largest seeing eyes in all the wide, wide world. And he’s luminous, glowing from within, his Samhair trailing his temples even as he’s troubled and struck by massive guilt with the weather reports about hail and fire. Here he is being smacked over the head yet again about how he was the one to start the apocalypse. Much fannish discussion is still ranging as to which brother is more to blame. I don’t think either one of them is to blame for the apocalypse in particular, since both of them were set up from the beginning and fated to play their roles like pawns in a supernatural game of chess.”

My review for the Supernatural Episode “Good God, Y’All!” is up at pinkraygun.com. Enjoy!
An excerpt:
I’ll admit to rather liking this scene, and it’s not really (only) because Sam was tied up, and he looks really good dripping wet, but because Sam got a Scene. All To Himself. Which is a marvelous thing, and a very rare animal. What’s good here is the closeups of Sam’s face. Oh, how I’ve missed this face, this kind of closeup, this kind of lighting and all for Sam. He’s all messed up and dappled with salt and blood and his eyes are enormous, like one of Margaret Keane’s big eyed children. His hair is tousled and the boy looks wrecked. Why are they more adorable like this?

My review for the Supernatural Episode “Sympathy for the Devil” is up at pinkraygun.com.
Enjoy!
An excerpt:
“Sam is my little lovemonkey, but the best part of this scene is Dean himself, where he resists Zach, and pouts with that lovely mouth of his. And then he does a whammy on the wall to send Zach and his goons into who-knows-where. Finally, finally, we get to see a Winchester doing the derring-do with some swash and buckle, taking matters into his own hands instead of just waiting around for someone to tell him how to feel or what to think.”

My review for the Supernatural episode “All Hell Breaks Loose, Part II,” is up at pinkraygun.com. Enjoy!
An excerpt:
“You like reunion scenes? I do. Especially when they begin like this one. Deanâs eyes are glittering as he sees Sam and hugs him hard enough to squeeze the life out of him. Sam, in his little brother way, is disoriented and complains that Dean is hugging too hard, and thatâs when the lies begin. And I donât mean one or two little white lies. I mean big whoppers that start a trend that last for the next freaking two seasons. Two seasons, people! Two WHOLE seasons of Sam and Dean prevaricating and stooping to subterfuge and all kinds of dishonest shenanigans, which leads ultimately, as I have said, to a dearth of brotherly touching. So live it up while you can, kids.”

So it’s that time of year again! Supernatural’s 5th Season starts on September 10th, and I anticipate that it will be a great ride. In the meantime, here is the link to the Pink Raygun article I wrote about those scenes that I wish Show had filmed (or filmed differently). You can read about it here.

An excerpt:
“For one very shocked minute, I thought for sure that Dean was going to have to drink the angel’s blood and considered what an interesting mirror that would be to Sam’s drinking the demon’s blood all this time, and how neat and tidy that would be. But no, the Soap Angel draws some symbols on the wall that allow him to send Zachariah off somewhere. And then as everything starts glowing, he zaps Dean back into the real world, and he says, “It’s the archangel. I’ll fight them. I’ll fight them all. ” I must tell you, I fell a little bit in love with the Soap Angel at that moment, because while he is a dick and hasn’t been very helpful to Dean, there was something in his voice there. Strength of purpose. Courage. Even love. “

An excerpt:
“And oh, what a torment. The scene is beautifully filmed in the throbbing light as it passes through the fan, with touches of red lantern and glowy sun, smudged with shadows that lay inky and dark in the rounded corners of the panic room. The jewel here is Sam himself, all sweaty and miserable, alternately calling for Dean and talking to ghosts of Winchester past, figments of his fevered imagination. And all the while, he’s dressed in a provocative snap-button shirt, with his Samhair lank and messy along his neck, his eyes artfully marked by the dark circles beneath them. True suffering could not be any more beautiful than it is here.”

An excerpt:
“To me this was a Sam episode. Not a Samhair episode, though there was lots of that to sigh over, but a Sam episode. Yes, I do realize there were other characters abounding, most notably Sam’s older brother. But for me, this ep was about Sam. The younger son. The baby of the family. The guy with the birthday in May. Astrology sign of Taurus. Tall. Handsome. Fabulous hair. Green eyes. Sweet smile and gorgeous dimples. Manly shoulders and a voice that could sing Grendel to sleep. Remember Sam? The guy who’s story we’ve been given such a paucity of so as to render him almost invisible? Yes. Him. Sadly, Show mucked about for most of the ep wasting time telling someone else’s story, namely that of the Soap Angel.”
