An excerpt:

“Sam and Dean drive off in the Impala. In the rain. There’s some cool chiaroscuro lighting on rain-dappled faces, and for me it really doesn’t get any better than this. The boys discuss Dean’s bad feelings about their plans, and then Sam talks seriously to Dean, but not about last words of goodbye. It’s not that all the words between them have been said and there’s nothing more to say. It’s that between them they are saying it, and have been saying it, hello, and goodbye, and I love you, every minute of every day. So there’s no point saying it if it’s already being said. I really liked this scene, obviously.”

Supernatural Episode Review: 99 Problems

An excerpt:

“Sam and Dean have a dither at one of the tables. Sam’s Samhair is in full force, making his face look all sculpted, with his strong, manly jawline coming across to me like an erotic shock. Oh, dear me, his mouth is so rosy and sweet, and he just keeps moving it as he talks. And as for Dean, he’s lit up and all green eyed and sparkly, and his eyebrows say yes, yes, while his lips say no, no, and it’s almost too much. Really, both of them being this beautiful at the same time should be against the law. What are they talking about? Oh, yes.”

Supernatural Episode Review: Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid

An excerpt:

“Post-fireworks, Dean drives off in the Impala, through the night, along a two-lane blacktop road. Overhead, is a full moon, and a sky full of stars. Which, as you know, is impossible, even if it is very pretty. But since this is heaven, since this is Dean’s heaven, the full moon is big enough and close enough to touch, all silver and blazing with moon dust. And around it, the stars sparkle white against the black and dark purple, like diamonds against velvet. This for Dean is a perfect night, this for Dean is perfection, and such a simple perfection it is, something that money and power cannot buy, and so right for Dean’s character, that he would choose this. Oh Dean, be it ever thus.”

Supernatural Episode Review: Free to Be You and Me

My review of the Supernatural Episode “Free to Be You and Me” is now up at pinkraygun.com. Enjoy!

An excerpt:

“It’s nice to see Sam like this because there’s lots and lots of Sam to see, thanks to the camera guy and the lighting guy working in tandem. Sam must have the largest seeing eyes in all the wide, wide world. And he’s luminous, glowing from within, his Samhair trailing his temples even as he’s troubled and struck by massive guilt with the weather reports about hail and fire. Here he is being smacked over the head yet again about how he was the one to start the apocalypse. Much fannish discussion is still ranging as to which brother is more to blame. I don’t think either one of them is to blame for the apocalypse in particular, since both of them were set up from the beginning and fated to play their roles like pawns in a supernatural game of chess.”

An excerpt:

“The metal duct is claustrophobic and twisty, and Dean crawls through this with much flashing of flashlight and much groaning and kvetching, having lost at Rock, Paper, Scissors yet again.(As he does. As he always does. I love it when Show remembers continuity moments like this.) The one made out of dirt is straight and just about the same size. And even though the MOW drags bodies through both tunnels apparently with ease, but Dean’s only got about, oh, one inch to spare on either side. Hey, I’m not looking at his powerful and broad manly shoulders as he crawls through the tunnels, I’m not. I was not absorbed in watching them churn, in watching the pull of his shirt over his arms. No. I was thinking about the plot. Totally.”

An  excerpt:

Would it have killed Show to accommodate me and all the other fans of The Dad? Seriously. There are two measly little scenes here, one where The Dad drops the boys off and one where The Dad picks them up. There’s also one tiny, little, teeny, weeny phone call. Show could have flown Jeffrey Dean Morgan up for one stinking morning, and filmed these two scenes and this one little voice clip and sent him on his merry way with nary a bobble in his routine. From the way Mr. Morgan talks about having enjoyed working on Show, I’ll wager he would have done it for free. Or, if not, fangirls would have raised the money. What a huge missed opportunity. Huge.”

What a terrific opportunity this is, to show our appreciation for Mr. Morgan’s brilliant talent, and a way to support a pet shelter at the same time. Watching the Watchmen: The Emperor’s New Clothes

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Pink Ray Gun, Reviews, Watchmen Comments Off on Watching the Watchmen: The Emperor’s New Clothes

Having waxed poetic about my expectations of how great Jeffrey Dean Morgan was going to be in the upcoming movie, “The Watchmen,” I decided that it might be a good idea to actually read the original comic book, and, after having fun purchasing a copy, read it I did. Here is a link to my review on pinkraygun.com. Enjoy!

An excerpt:

“Hendrickson knows, man, he knows about how The Dad dragged those kids from pillar to post, raising them up in cheap motels and backwoods cabins, and just as I’m leaning forward for MORE delicious factoids like these, Hendrickson switches into opinion mode because he can’t figure out whether The Dad was a survivalist nut job, a Unabomber, or what. He rattles on to be insulting but simply doesn’t know and is just trying to get Dean’s goat. (Which he had, as they say, at hello.)  And Dean says, “You don’t know crap about my dad. He was a hero.” I love, love, love Dean in this scene, it might be my favorite scene in the whole ep  (besides Sam’s mandroid line), on account of Dean’s shoulders go back and his chin comes up and there’s a whole lot of love and pride running through him. Plus, yeah, I loved the factoids about where the boys lived when they were growing up. Show needs to give fangirls like me MORE like this, and right away, if not sooner. Otherwise I’ll just make stuff up and it’ll be a whole lot darker than what Show had planned.”
