Right Up There: To the End

To the End by Esohpe.

Slash.

Christ on a side car. That’s all I can tell you. I went directly to bed after reading this and should not have because I could not get it out of my head. It kept spinning around in there like a white sail distracting me from the darkness of sleep. I am SO exhausted right now because of it. Story fits the criteria all the way around, except for the realism bit, but I’m going to give this story the green light because of how well it was done. I just wish I’d written this story. Guilty Pleasure: To Live and Die in Las Vegas

To Live and Die in Las Vegas by stormheller.

Slash

Definately a guilty pleasure since it didn’t meet all my criteria in that it was AU and postulated the “last days of Dean’s year” (which hasn’t been written in canon yet) and then, the boys are lovers before the story starts, and I really rather prefer first time scenarios. Plus the POV noodles around a little bit. Needless to say, hours after I read this one I was still chuckling and mulling it over.  Read the rest of this entry »

Right Up There: Valley So Low and Riding The Rim

Valley So Low and coda Riding the Rim by kimonkey7.

Gen.

Follows all the criteria and hits it out of the ball park. Dean runs away from a
spider and falls down a ravine. He breaks nearly everything in his body, can’t
rescue himself. The details of his horrific accident are marvelously well done and
I enjoyed being in Dean’s head as he assesses the damage and sets himself to
wait for Sam to rescue him. Which he does in Riding the Rim. I was so peeved
at the end of Valley So Low because that’s all there was and the author had
determined that that’s all there was gonna be. Someone, however, talked her
out of it (or threatened her, I’m not sure which), for we get the sequel. Read the rest of this entry »

Ramius, who is working, natch, at the shop where Jack gets his supplies. In addition, they find the opportunity to discover a closeness that they had not heretofore anticipated. Read the rest of this entry »

One Night’s Compromise

Fanfiction, My Fanfiction, Star Trek Comments Off on One Night’s Compromise

One Night’s Compromise is now available on the Kirk/Spock Fanfiction Archive.

Here’s the premise: Spock has determined that the only way he can save his and Kirk’s friendship is to ask for a transfer. This he does, and of course, Kirk objects, and decides that he and Spock should go out to dinner to discuss what it’s going to take to keep Spock on the Enterprise. What it eventually takes is a surprise to them both. Word count: 12,405

That’s the story. But the story behind the story…yeah, there’s always another story.

The Flavor of Gold

Fanfiction, My Fanfiction, Star Trek Comments Off on The Flavor of Gold

The Flavor of Gold is one of the first fanfiction and slash stories I wrote. It is in the K/S fandom. You can view it here.

And, here is the description: While on shore leave, Kirk runs into Finnegan, who tells Kirk that he would not have been as successful without Spock. Kirk takes on a one-man mission in order to prove Finnegan wrong. (Kirk so has issues with this!) Meanwhile, Spock, wondering where his 3D chess partner has gone, goes after Kirk. He finds him, of course, and then the fun ensues! Word count 30,491.

Red Sky at Morning: A Supernatural Episode Review

An excerpt:

Okay, he doesn’t really waltz down the stairs like a girl, he prowls down the stairs like a panther. Like, yeah, like James Bond on his way to meet Pussy Galore. And he turns down her offer of angry sex, because he knows, as I know, that Winchester boys don’t sleep with roaches. Still, it’s pretty cool to see Dean realize how good he looks. The only thing that tops it is the realization, some long, stomach-tightening seconds later, that Sam, sweet Sammy, is also going to be in a tux. Dean looks dapper right enough, but Sam looks like a little boy in his father’s suit. Don’t get me wrong, he’s all cute and about ten feet tall, but his lovely Samhair has been plastered down with what looks like Brylcreem. His hair, apparently, did not want to go along to the ball, and this is how he attempts to manage it. (I love him anyway.)”

An excerpt:

Then the boys are at the hospital, talking about patients, doctors and stuff, and I realize that Sam’s neck is all exposed by the shirt he’s wearing. He was wearing this shirt earlier in the ep when the brothers were examining the cottage in the woods where the hiking couple was attacked. Only now, in the light of the hospital, I realize that the buttons on the shirt are of the snap variety. I think there’s dialog and I think the plot moves forward, but all I can think about are undoing those snaps. With one big r-r-r-r-rip. Man. Who put that shirt on that boy? (There’s a woman in a coma, and I wonder, since she’s in a coma, where are all the tubes and stuff? Oh, never mind. I’ll just look at Sam’s neck for a while.)”

 An excerpt:

Sam has his moments, oh, yes. He’s got Samhair, and that makes me one happy fangirl. Not the ordinary Samhair I’m used to. It’s a more continental version, sans bangs, but with animae-ish strands hanging in those soft, dewy eyes. He doesn’t even swipe them out of the way as he tells Dean, “I’m going after Mr. Trotter, because he was looking at me funny.” Can I snigger now? Are they doing this on purpose? In a town filled with sin, Sam is worried about a business man giving him the eye? (Relax Sammy, everyone knows you’re with Dean.)”
